Autumn on the White Island is a magical time of year. Whilst we are still blessed with the wonderfully warm Ibiza weather, the rise and fall of the rhythm of the island is at a much lower pace, with a gentle, relaxed atmosphere replacing the sometimes frenetic pace of the high summer.
As the superclubs prepare to close their doors and the party people retire to recuperate and plan to do it all again next year, Ibiza welcomes still more visitors, those who come to enjoy the calmer vibe and peaceful energy. It´s also a fabulous time to discover some new dining destinations, as many of the best restaurants in Ibiza stay open throughout the Autumn season, if not all year. Here are a few of our favourite autumn eateries.
Can Pilot
This iconic restaurant centred in the heart of San Rafael is quite simply an unmissable place for those visiting in the autumn. Warm, welcoming and authentic, Can Pilot is renowned for its excellent, locally sourced meat, and it is truly a carnivore´s paradise. It´s eternally popular with holidaymakers and islanders alike, who come here time after time to feast on the sobrasada, chuleton, and our particular favourite, the butifarra brochetas, simply divine!
Tatel Ibiza
If you´re looking for some South Beach glamour for your dining experience then head to Tatel, located on the shores of Paya dén Bossa. This opulent bar and restaurant opened early in 2017 to much fanfare, and has quickly established itself as one of the hottest spots to see and be seen on the island. The restaurant has been launched by a powerful alliance between the Ibiza magnate Abel Matutes Prats and Manuel Campos Guallar. They have collaborated with three other founding partner’s names which everyone will recognise as being the most well recognised in the world of showbusiness and sport, Enrique Iglesias, Rafa Nadal and Pau Gasol, surely some of Spain’s very best unofficial ambassadors. With a definitive culinary mission, they are setting to raise the standard of fine dining and excellent service in Ibiza, and their gastronomic delights simply speak for themselves. The views over the seafront, lit by the canopy of stars simply adds to the overall ambience, and dining alfresco on their exquisite terrace, is the very best way we can think to end yet another perfect autumnal Ibizan day.
La Bodega
If you have spent an afternoon exploring the streets of the capital, Ibiza Town and fancy a break to enjoy some truly exceptional tapas, then there is only one place to head, La Bodega. You´ll find this little gem at the foot of the entrance to the Dalt Vila the ancient fortress which dominates the skyline of the town, and once you step inside, you´ll feel instantly at home. The owners, Fernando and Miguel have been serving up their own inventive tapas dishes since 2005, and the passion and vigour for what they do is evident in everything from the decor through to the excellent cocktail list, and of course, the food! Their tapas is a combination of traditional dishes with a modern, innovative twist. We recommend the salmon with red peppercorns, wasabi and soy, a true taste explosion!
Taco Paco
Our final recommendation is the much loved Taco Paco, a marvellous Mexican restaurant on the main street of the thriving town of Santa Eulalia. The interior is simply a kaleidoscope of colour, with a combination of traditional Mexican style and a little Ibiza style thrown in to create the perfect ambience. This restaurant is consistently fully booked throughout the year, which in itself is an indication of the winning combination of welcoming staff, divine decor and excellent, well priced food. We defy anyone not to leave here with a big smile on their face, especially if you´ve sampled their legendary margaritas!
